According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. market for wind power is one of the biggest and fastest growing in the world. Wind power is diversifying the energy economy and providing a significant source of low-carbon energy. Given the power and potential of wind, UW–Madison researchers are working to broaden its reach and effectiveness. From designing wind turbines for use in developing countries to improving the mechanics of power conversion, our scientists are decreasing costs, increasing efficiency, and creating technologies that will continue to drive the marketplace.
