Building Efficiency

Building Efficiency The Wisconsin Energy Institute building (above) is LEED Gold Certified and incorporates some of the most innovative and forward-thinking technologies of our time.

According to the United Nations, buildings are responsible for up to 30 percent of the world’s total greenhouse gas emissions and consume up to 40 percent of its energy. Given the important role building efficiency plays in our ongoing transition to clean energy, researchers at UW–Madison are working to develop building designs that reduce energy use, incorporate renewable energy technologies, and integrate new energy innovations.
