For Educators

For Educators The Wisconsin Energy Institute works to engage both teachers and students in energy-related science by offering summer professional development programs (left) and developing classroom and nonformal educational materials (right).

The Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) and its partner the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) offer opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school educators to bring real-world research in clean energy into their classrooms.

Educational Materials
WEI develops classroom and nonformal educational materials for students in elementary school up to the undergraduate level. The materials are oriented around a number of core themes, including inquiry-based learning, scientific thought and analysis, and the conservation of matter and energy.

Professional Development
WEI hosts a number of energy-related professional development programs for educators. Whether spending the summer conducting research in a GLBRC lab or attending one of the week-long summer institutes, educators come away with a variety of energy-related curriculum ideas and teaching strategies that align with current science standards.
