Policy & Regulation

Policy & Regulation Former Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle and members of the Wisconsin Energy Institute's leadership break ground on WEI's building in 2013 (above). WEI represents a university, state, and federal commitment to supporting clean energy research on the UW–Madison campus.

As our sources of energy change and diversify, so too will the laws and policies that govern how we develop, produce, distribute, and consume energy. To explore the ways in which we can help transform our energy system for the better, UW–Madison researchers study the impacts of policy and regulation on our energy supply and use, and conduct analyses of the economic, social, and environmental aspects of energy policy decisions in the U.S. and around the world.
