The Wisconsin Institute of Nuclear Systems (WINS) was created in UW–Madison’s College of Engineering in 2001 with a mission to promote research, education, and public service related to nuclear systems. WINS research programs provide opportunities for cooperation with a number of sponsoring companies within the state and country, as well as with state and federal government agencies. The Institute facilitates effective communication among faculty, students, and staff in various nuclear specialties, thus encouraging collaborative interdisciplinary research. And it also connects with researchers outside the University who are interested in the findings of UW–Madison’s ongoing nuclear research or who wish to contribute financially to research projects.
