Water

Water UW-Madison researchers are working to reduce water requirements and improve energy efficiency in power plants like this one (UW–Madison's West Campus Cogeneration Facility).

Water and energy are inextricably linked. We use water to produce energy and energy to produce water. UW–Madison researchers are looking for ways to reduce water loss and conserve energy in water delivery, water treatment methods, and industrial processes. By understanding how and where water utilities and other industries use power, our experts develop new technologies, methods, and solutions that can conserve both energy and water.
