Abstract
As the world grapples with the broad challenges of climate change, this talk highlights how transitioning to a low-carbon economy across sectors will likely benefit human health. Examples range from a transition to low-carbon clean energy sources, reduced automobile dependency, and plant-forward diets – actions across each of these sectors will simultaneously mitigate emissions causing climate change while also enhancing human health. By taking a “community-based, health-first approach,” this presentation aims to underscore the need for integrated policies that address energy, climate, and health in a holistic and equitable manner. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of these issues and the opportunity to maximize the health benefits of the energy transition.
