LED Paradox: Energy Efficient Lighting and the Rebound Effect

In a free public seminar at 3:30 PM on Monday, September 12, in room 1115 of the Wisconsin Energy Institute, Andrea Hicks will discuss LED lighting and the “rebound effect,” the idea that as we adopt more energy-efficient products we might also be using them more, cutting in to the savings earned from greater efficiency. An assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at UW–Madison, Hicks can quantify the environmental impact of many products and processes, including that ultimate product of convenience – the to-go cup of coffee.
