John Bollinger Chair of Mechanical Engineering & Grainger Professor of Sustainable Energy
College of Engineering
Jaal Ghandhi's research is in the area of the combustion and fluid mechanics of internal combustion engines. His research focuses on developing advanced, laser-based diagnostics for making planar measurements of the concentration and temperature fields within the combustion chamber of operating engines. It is hoped that understanding the physics of the complicated turbulent combustion process will provide a better basis for the development of new engines. Professor Ghandhi is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
