Christy Remucal’s aquatic chemistry research group focuses processes that influence the fate and degradation of organic chemicals in natural and engineered aquatic systems. She is particularly interested in reactive oxidants generated by photochemical reactions and metal redox cycling. By studying these fundamental reaction mechanisms, Remucal aims to develop models and real world applications that can be used to improve water quality.
Research Interests
- Formation of reactive oxygen species in water
- Polar organic contaminants in natural and engineered aquatic systems
- Molecular composition and reactivity of dissolved organic matter
