Cary Forest's experimental research focuses on understanding how electrical currents are generated in plasmas and liquid metals. Applications include fusion energy research in magnetically confined plasmas, and laboratory experiments built to study astrophysical processes.
Research Interests
- Liquid metal dynamos and MHD turbulence
- MHD instabilities in line-tied plasmas and their stabilization by moving metal walls
- Heat, current transport, and non-inductive currents in tokamaks and RFPs
- Flow-dominated plasmas
