On Monday, October 24 at 3:30 PM in room 1115 of the Wisconsin Energy Institute, UW–Madison professor of agronomy and Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center researcher Mike Casler will give a free public seminar on developing sustainable perennial cellulosic biomass crops. Casler is currently developing winter-hardy switchgrass varieties that flower later in the year and produce more biomass. These perennial varieties could advance the role of sustainably produced biofuels in our energy system, creating more available biomass for biofuel production but without the environmental toll associated with annual crops such as corn.
