Join us on October 26 at 3:30 p.m. for this Sustainable Energy Seminar presentation by Prateek Jaiswal, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at UW-Madison.
Jaiswal established the Experimental Fluid Mechanics Lab at UW-Madison, specializing in Aeroacoustics, a branch of science that deals with noise generation via unsteady aerodynamics. Jaiswal’s lab seeks to reduce the noise and carbon footprint of modern transportation and energy systems while improving reliability issues linked to flow-induced vibration. The overarching question his research group seeks to answer is how the structure of turbulent shear flows dictates drag, noise, and their propagation. His lab uses a variety of experimental, numerical and analytical tools to study generation, propagation, and scattering of sound waves. This work has applications in aircraft and other transportation modes as well as energy technologies like wind turbines.
