Science on tap: bat chat

So an island castaway, a charitable vampire, and earth's fastest animal walk into a bar…

What do they all have in common? They’re bats! Indeed, bats — the only mammal capable of true powered flight — are the puppies of the sky. Bats eat tons of insect pests, inspire cutting-edge technologies, and pollinate important plants (like agave, where tequila comes from). However, these sassy but secretive creatures seldom get the attention they deserve. Until now.

Come learn about awesomely adorable bats from around the world, the wonderful things bats do for humans, and how YOU can help Wisconsin’s bats. Join Amy Wray and Heather Kaarakka for a “bat chat” and hear about some of the creative ways that scientists study these elusive animals.

Free and open to everyone. Children welcome with an adult. Free parking after 6 in the lot across Wilson from the bar.
