Photo of the Week: Electric Vehicle Research at the WEI

UW-Madison engineering graduate student Phil Kollmeyer peers under the hood of the Orchid Monroe electric truck, a Ford-150 truck he helped convert from gasoline to electric in collaboration with Wisconsin-based company Orchid Monroe. The electric truck charges in six hours, has a driving range of 70 miles, and a miles-per-gallon-equivalent of 60. "Filling the tank" costs roughly four to five dollars. Also pictured is the electric Corbin Sparrow (in red), another electric vehicle used in electric machine and vehicle research.
