At the University of Wisconsin–Madison's Science Expeditions on April 5th, the Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) and Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center's (GLBRC) education and outreach team led future scientists through an experiment that let them create their own biofuels. Children, and adults alike, were given the opportunity to pick their feedstock, add yeast and water, and measure the amount of ethanol that they produced. The experiment, "Fermentation in a Bag," is part of a suite of bioenergy-focused classroom activities that the GLBRC produces and distributes. Additionally, the WEI and GLBRC provide a broad range of education programs, including: opportunities for students and educators, and events for the general public. Find out more.
