Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies The 2015 Energy Summit (above), chaired by UW-Madison professor of environmental studies Tracey Holloway, focused on the relationship between energy and the environment, specifically clean air.

Climate change is a complex crisis requiring truly multi-disciplinary solutions. The field of environmental studies, with its many tools for examining the relationships between people and the environment, is a necessary component of our transition to clean energy. Broadly speaking, UW–Madison researchers work to understand and make visible the impact of our energy decisions on human health and other living communities. This research gives researchers, policymakers, businesses, and regulatory agencies alike the information they need to sustainably and effectively transform our energy systems.
