For Students

Undergraduate Research Resources and Opportunities

Undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have a rare opportunity to work directly with faculty and staff on the cutting edge of research in a variety of disciplines.  Conducting research can be one of the more valuable educational experiences that undergraduates can undertake during their time on campus.

At this time, the Wisconsin Energy Institute does not coordinate energy-related research opportunities for undergraduates at UW-Madison. However, recognizing the valuable experience that research can provide to undergraduate students, we have provided a number of tips and resources for those who are interested in working with energy researchers as an undergraduate.

Wisconsin Energy and Sustainability Challenge

The Wisconsin Energy Institute is proud to support the Wisconsin Energy & Sustainability Challenge, a student competition aimed at advancing scientific discovery forward. This challenge combines the Global Stewards Sustainability Prize with the Dvorak Energy Innovation Prize to offer over $10,000 in total prizes for students with the best energy and sustainability solutions.

All UW-Madison students are eligible. The competition will be held at the Energy Hub Conference at the Gordon Dining and Event Center on November 13, 2015. Entries are due October 23, 2015.
