Research Intern (Fall/Winter 2013)

Clean Wisconsin has internships available in the fall of 2013 for undergraduate and graduate students in engineering, environmental sciences, political/governmental, public health, or other related fields.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate some background knowledge in environmental or energy science, strong analytic and technical abilities, excellent writing skills, an interest in addressing environmental issues facing Wisconsin, and the ability to commit 10 or more hours per week.
Science interns will assist the organization's science team in a variety of tasks to provide support for Clean Wisconsin’s clean air, clean energy, and clean water. For the fall of 2013, Clean Wisconsin has the following positions: 1-2 Research Internships.
General responsibilities for the Research Internships may include gathering data needed to support campaign program positions; data and technical analysis; synthesizing information related to campaigns; and composing briefings and factsheets.
Clean Wisconsin encourages students to seek outside funding and fellowships. Subject to organizational constraints, small stipends may at times be available to help partially offset costs of participating in internships. Please inquire if a stipend would be necessary for participation.
The specific areas of work for fall 2013 are to be determined based on interest, expertise, and necessity. Potential areas include:
• Analysis of policies to incentivize distributed renewable energy
• Analysis of coal power plant data
• Comparison of regional climate change policies
• Local and municipal energy efficiency ordinances and policies
• Nutrient water pollution
• Public health impacts of air pollution
• Water use and efficiency
• Water resource availability
• Website content and development
