Wisconsin Distinguished Professor of Geological Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering
Craig Benson conducts experimental and analytical research in geoenvironmental engineering, with the primary focus on waste containment/management, beneficial use of industrial byproducts, and sustainable construction. His research has included laboratory studies, large-scale field experiments, and computer modeling. His work on waste containment/management includes methods to enhance biogas production from solid waste landfills and technologies for safe long-term disposal of low-level radioactive wastes. His work on sustainable construction includes the safe and wise use of coal combustion products to create sustainable infrastructure.
